'Gweilo' is a Cantonese derogatory term for Caucasians. It means 'Ghost Man'. Gweilos interestingly, are pretty revered in Asia because many colonized minds still think they are a superior race. Oh, and when mixed with a local girl, will definitely produce very cute babies. So, that's another reason to worship and welcome them. I have no problem with that. I don't mind their presence until I see them using their skin colour or accents to get their way (or when I see an ugly Caucasian man with a hot Asian girl...makes my blood boil lah).
My main gripe is why these foreigners are considered more superior or civilised. It pisses me off no end when I notice colleagues serving the Caucasian guest better. To be fair, maybe the passenger is more polite and did not demand a milo drink... I just think it is interesting when you recall how we Asians used to fight these Gweilos off our territories and close our ports to their trading ships. The Japanese Shogun registered the movement of every Caucasians in the Southern Islands, ultimately resisting them and proceeded to isolate themself for 200 years. The Chinese had the Opium War against the British and the Vietnamese fought off the very first French troops who landed in their soil. Caucasians were scorned and mocked until their bigger guns won our spears and swords. So be it lah but why are we still submissive?
The Summer Palace was burnt and looted by various Gweilo troops. Hong Kong and Macau were lost to foreign powers too. Why doesn't the Chinese people detest them more? Why waste so much energy every year blasting Koizumi and his visits to Yasukuni shrine? I guess it's a no brainer...killing your people should get more lubbing than looting your history.
Anyway if RocketJim ever lands up with a Gweilo, it is a HUGE bitchslap because she is such a rascist! On to more enjoyable stuff:

Crunchy Oatmeal and Raisin Muffins!
Borrowed HZ's spacious kitchen again and we had alot of fun baking and catching up. We were enjoying the Meiji milk in his fridge until I realised it came from Thai cows. Sawa Dee Khah! Mai Ping Rai! How cool is that? I haven't tried Thai milk before...now we know why 2 litres cost only a little over $2. Well, it didn't taste funny for sure. Talking about it, I have yet to try Vietnamese milk in the flight because the packaging looks dodgy. I should take a picture sometime.
After delivering the muffins to another friend, I had an enjoyable walk home with my bestest friend talking about everything under the sun. I love that path from Toh Guan to my place; 20 minutes to talk and learn more about Life. I will walk with you down that path anytime PR! =D
See you next week. I'm going to KL tonight. Yeah baby!!

My opinions are very mixed on "Gweilos". But uh... not for public consumption. Will relate to you one day, it'll make for good pillow talk. ;)
Some gweilos are very cute, hahaha. But yeah, they're just humans like everyone else, no need for the elevated status.
The muffins look yummerlicious. You must bake me some soon!

i've always pondered over what u talked about - that blatant unfair treatment given to "gweilos". in fact once, i was ordering pork chop fried rice from this taiwanese stall from a food court but the lady told me no more, but when the gweilo behind me ordered the exact same thing, voila! HAVE! Wah! How can?
Still, some can be quite nice and they DO have better manners and are mostly polite...
Relax, no need to be that uptight about it. It's nothing malacious here, at least, I don't think so.
You did not deliver the muffins to me. Sob Sob.
Ricky: Thanks.
Moin: Thanks.
Emotionsickness: Oops but you were busy!
