One lovely humid weekday night, my dad was cruising along the Benjamin Sheares Bridge. Finally back from a dull trip, I was relaxing in the back of the car and absorbing the magnificent skyline along the bay. Suddenly he dropped a bomb on me.
Dad: Girl, your brother wants to be a woman...
Yeah right, just pulling your leg lah. =P
Actually, it was more like this...
Dad: How do you sleep in overseas hotel?
Me: Ehh...huh? I guess I sleep pretty well........?
Dad: You turn off all the lights?
Me: Ya.
Dad: Next time, don't. Leave at least one light on. Oh, the toilet one!
Me: *spooked* And...?
Dad: If you have 2 beds in the room, what do you do?
Me: Usually I use one and leave the other untouched lor. The chambermaid very busy and poor thing you know.
Dad: Wrong! You have to put your luggage or something on the bed, occupy it! What about your shoes?
Me: (this one I know) I leave them topsy turvy on the floor!
I think I hit the jackpot this time because my dad was smiling and nodding furiously. This was pretty traumatizing because after this exchange, I had become an even lighter sleeper. Gah...I am spooked! I used to not bother about a thing and sleep in complete darkness. Thanks to my seniors' various hotel stories and my dad's sudden paranormal interrogation, I am now very stressed.
SO during my last trip, I took all necessary precautions.

Lavatory Lights on. Check!

Other Bed Occupied. Check!

Shoes All Over The Place. Check!
Did I sleep better? Nope. I hate having the lights on anywhere, even if the doors are closed. I mean, a sliver of light is still pretty spooky...no? I don't understand how so many seniors sleep with half of the lights switched on and the television blasting. (Ooooo what did they do to feel so scared?) I guess I'll just slap myself next time for thinking about stupid things and just sleep. If I could do it last time, I can do it now!

What is that suppose to do? Leave the impression that there's an orgy going on so nobody will come to bother you?
I'm confused.

It's to prevent unwanted visitors.
When I travel and stay in hotels, I also throw all my stuff all over the other bed and on the floor, and sometimes I leave a small light or the TV on.
