I don't like bitching (and can't at work anyway) to other people so I shall do it here. Heh heh. You never know who will backstab you at work. So anyway, I don't get this character at work. She is not bad a person but just difficult to stomach since her character is pretty strong. So she told me she does not discriminate and is very open to ideas. According to RocketJim's Bitchslap Theory, she is not what she claimed to be...well sometimes. She isn't a bad person and I know she really enjoys helping people too. If you still don't get IRONY, here's the best way to learn it's meaning. (Maybe she doesn't notice it herself but here's a useful example):
SHE: I just don't get people who discriminate others according to skin colour you know? It's silly you know because we are all human beings afterall. So silly.
RJ: *nods* That's great.
SHE: And I am very open to different cultures. It's so interesting to learn about different cultures you know? I have been to many countries and it's very interesting to learn how different people do things.
RJ: *nods again*
(2 weeks later)
SHE: I don't get it! Nothing works in Singapore! You see, this works very differently in Europe you know? Asian people are strange you know? Why? I mean, WHY?! In Europe, we do things differently yes? Why? And I don't understand people who have only 2-3 boyfriends when they are in their 20s. Where I come from, it's better to change boyfriends so you learn you know? And why don't people move out after graduation? It's so weird they stay with their parents so much.
RJ: *blinks*
SHE: Why? Things seem pretty rigid. Asians are so shy no? And nothing works here! I know because I am already here 3 months and I know all about Singapore (Asian culture).
Talk about being adaptive and open to different cultures. I added the part in italic but that was what SHE meant. It's the classic contradiction. Usually I get pretty wary when people say they don't discriminate and are very liberal because they usually fit into my Bitchslap Theory after some time. *laughs* I know SHE pissed off several colleagues in her short stint of work thus far and well, I'll just sit on the fence and do my work. She's a friend afterall and I shall not add fuel to fire, I do hope she tones down though. (It's not too nice to correct your senior's grammar in front of a passenger.)
Still enjoying my job thus far (except the make-up) and looking forward to work. I bought my first bright pink lipstick ever and I hate it. All my colleagues say it's so pretty but I think they are just used to it. Once a wayang, always a wayang. I can't keep letting the senior comment on my lack of lip colour so I had to buy something really bright. I don't even know why I am wasting time talking about this but it's a BRIGHT PINK lipstick that's so cheesy I can't figure why the hell MAC actually stocks it. I look like a drag queen. Don't cry for me Argentina~ the truth's that I've never left youuuuuu~
Lastly,
Note: Goldsmith, if you want to call me, please make sure I am not
1. sleeping
2. dreaming of Prince Charming
3. putting on eyeliner
4. rushing to work.
ARG!! You always do this!!!!
Happy Belated Birthday to 'ction! I am so sorry I am late...and it's already mid December. hayai~~
