Are you a Maguro?

After a wee bit of alcohol and ice cream, Loverboy and I got really talkative last night. I couldn't stop laughing after he did a little 'demo'.

Me: I heard in Japan, 'maguro' (tuna) is a term used on women who are very stiff.

Loverboy explained that it is used more on a sexual basis. Like describing a woman who is unresponsive and only lies on her back during lovemaking. He says maguro doesn't move on the chopping board, hence the origins of the description.

Then he proceeds to pretend to be a dead fish and laid down very stiffly. It was then I started laughing so hard and couldn't stop. With his belly protuding, he looks like a very fat, cute tuna.

Me: Then what do you call women who move way too much? Like legs and hands all over the place? Ika (squid)? Ebi (Prawn)? Saru (Monkey)??

Loverboy: Are you kidding me?! Do guys complain about that?

Interesting...that's true huh. Now that I reflect on all the past episodes of JapanHour, I'd never seen a maguro flip on the chopping board. Guess they are usually dead by the time... huh?
