Thursday was a very fulfilling day for me. In the morning, I followed my dad to various places - from the Japanese Embassy to Lengkok Bahru to Toa Payoh to Kuan Yin Temple and finally back in Orchard Road. I learnt more about my dad's past and our family tree during the journey and well...it felt very good. At Lengkok Bahru, we 'ate memories' according to him. It was very nostalgic to sit at the beat-up coffeeshop I have been frequenting since I was a preschooler. I remember I used to have kaya toast and yakult after my bowl of noodles. It suddenly all came back to me when I saw the clinic where I first down a cough mixture without water and the provisions shop where I used to buy round wafers. Ah yeah, it was called Heung Kee. I miss my grandpa now; I always held on to his hand when we walk into the shop to get me snacks. I only pray the Singaporean government don't bulldoze more old estates when I am not looking.
In the aftenoon, I met up with another buddy, Ricky, and got sore feet. *laughs* The poor fellow was pretty down the first half of the day. I should have got him chocolates instead of coconut mushrooms (Hey! Everything else had gelatin). If you are reading this, don't harp on it, yah? Well...shit happens. It's not your fault. Don't let this affect your other papers ok? If you want to blame anyone, it's the bird's fault!
We caught Starsky and Hutch (or was it Starky and Hutch?). It was alright, it entertained and got me laughing. Ben Stiller should keep his hair long. DO it. Next, Kitano's Zatoichi!! My brother said it rocked and he definitely recommends it. He had to rub in the fact that there is a handsome ronin in the movie. Smart. Cathay is gonna earn another $6.50 from me.
After the movie, I was really wondering where to go for dinner. Orchard is expensive, Ricky is vegetarian and I am lazy. I suggested Clementi since it was convenient but I was wondering if Ricky could stomach eating at Clementi again. I don't know why but I suddenly thought I could be nicer by going to Little India. Heck, how far is it anyway?
R: Mmmmm about 20 minutes?
RJ: 20? That's not too far. Let's go!
We walked about 10 minutes before he declared that -
R: Ok, it's 20 minutes from this point now.
We were halfway to Dhoby Ghaut station then. *shakes fist* I'm gonna bring a skateboard when we go to the zoo next time!
Ok, tired. Shall end here.
