Leng: You must be very alert. Listen, look around but never make a sound. You cannot afford to say the wrong things.
Aunt: At work, you really do meet many kinds of people.
RJ: So what are the worst types you have met so far?
Leng: Liars. Those who tell different things to different people.

Seems that the workplace can be very cynical and very unfriendly. Aunt and Leng advised me to keep myself very neutral and be alert at all times.

Leng: You must be very alert. AND DON'T COMMIT YOURSELF TO ANY COMMENTS.
RJ: Meaning?
Leng: There are people who enjoys putting words in your mouth or concocting stories. Be wary! If they ask you "eh...how do you find so and so?"...act blur or stick to generic answers like "Oh she's alright. I haven't worked with her so I can't comment." Full-stop. Fresh grads are usually very innocent to the point of silly. But give yourself a year or two, all will learn to play the GAME.

Many notes to take:
1. Keep neutral.
2. Smokers are the tightest groups. (Any mention of them provoked the most active eye-rollings.)
3. Although keeping neutral, do not be aloof or one shall be left out of ALL activities.
4. If one can't be neutral, act blur.

Amazing that people don't really grow up. I can't believe the workplace is just another playground. *shake head* I also learnt that somehow, the SDU (Social Development Unit) tracks you down and invites (incessantly) one to join it's myriad of social (match-making) activities.
